goodChoice

Practical, hands-on financial education

goodChoice, a collaborative project involving Goodwill Industries, Virginia Credit Union, and St. James’s
Episcopal Church, promotes financial education to help individuals identify and break the cycle of debt,
allowing them to become more financially stable. Individuals who need assistance in managing checking
accounts accurately, curtailing credit card debt, or planning for long-term financial goals can benefit from
the goodChoice program. The financial education program is open to all individuals seeking the necessary
fundamental education to manage their money so they can better manage their lives.

goodChoice participants will be offered financial education classes and one-on-one coaching to help them
gain financial skills and gain access to traditional banking services. Participants will learn the pitfalls of
high-cost lending products such as payday and car title loans.
